Hinge Prompts for Guys
Hinge is built around comments on prompts, so your prompt picks are doing more work than your bio. Pick three prompts: one that shows your life, one that invites a playful comment, one that filters for compatibility. Skip the prompts that demand vulnerability you do not have yet. Each answer should be one specific, not a list and not a generalization.
- Pick three: life-showing, comment-inviting, filter.
- Answer with one specific, never a list.
- Skip vulnerability prompts unless you actually have an answer.
- Funny beats clever. Specific beats funny.
How the Hinge mechanic actually works
She likes a specific prompt, which gives you a comment to reply to. The prompt and the answer are the conversation starter for both sides. Your job is to give her three places to engage, each with a different angle.
The three to pick
Life-showing. "A shower thought I recently had" or "The way to win me over is". One concrete specific. "Make me laugh during a city walk and pay attention when I name a building".
Comment-inviting. "Two truths and a lie", "Worst idea I have actually said yes to", "My most controversial opinion". Anything she can argue with.
Filter. "I get along best with people who", "The hallmark of a good relationship is". This is where you screen in compatible women and screen out the wrong matches.
Worked answers
A shower thought. "Restaurants should be required to disclose whether the salt is sea salt or that fake bagged stuff. Transparency."
Two truths and a lie. "Lived in three countries. Cannot whistle. Allergic to mangoes." Pick something specific so she has something to guess from.
My most controversial opinion. "Sushi is a yellow flag for a first date. Open to debate, not open to changing my mind."
The way to win me over. "Argue with me about something low-stakes and refuse to back down even when you are wrong."
The four to skip
Anything that needs vulnerability you have not built into your profile (childhood stories, emotional growth prompts). Anything with the word 'dream'. Anything that ends in 'because life is short'. 'I am looking for', which always reads as a checklist.
Why most men's prompts fail
They write the answer they think she wants to read, not the answer that gives her something to push back on. The agreeable answer earns the swipe, not the comment.
How TextWizard sets up Hinge profiles
The tool reviews a screenshot of your three prompt answers and tells you which one is doing real work, which one is filler, and what shape the weakest prompt should be rewritten in. The grading is the same as for thread analysis, applied to the profile.
Frequently asked
- Should I use a voice prompt?
- Yes if you are warm and clear. No if you are nervous about your own voice. A bad voice prompt is worse than no voice prompt.
- How often should I rotate prompts?
- Every two to three months, or when one stops getting comments. The ones that get comments are doing their job.
