Good Conversation Starters Over Text
A text starter has to do its job in one line because she is half-paying-attention. Skip the warmup, skip the 'sorry to bother you', skip the multi-question. Lead with a specific, a small read, or a low-stakes ask. The starter that gets replied to is the one that costs her almost nothing and gives her tonality to match.

Eight starters by context
After a first date. "You owe me a verdict on the cocktail bar I picked. Was it the right call or a yellow flag." Light, references the shared event, invites her to play.
After a couple weeks of silence. "Re-introducing myself, slightly improved version: same name, better stories." Acknowledges the gap without apologizing.
Match the same day. "Two photos in airports. The committed traveler bit, or the 'on layover and bored' bit, no third option." Profile-specific, playful.
Match a week old, never wrote. "Realized I sat on this match like I sit on emails I should have answered. Calibrating now: coffee this week." Acknowledges, then leads.
Day-to-day partner check-in. "Quick verdict needed: am I overdressed for the thing tonight." Gives her a small role.
Reconnecting with someone you know in person. "Saw [thing] today, immediately thought of you and your hot takes." Specific, warm, no pressure.

Crossing platforms. "Migrating this conversation to WhatsApp, the Instagram DMs are not built for actual talking." Reframes the platform switch as a logistical move.
The four mistakes
'How are you'. Costs her effort, returns nothing.
Multi-question warmup. "Hey how was your day, how is work, what are you up to." Reads as desperate for attention.
Apology opener. "Sorry to bother you." She does not want a man who needs forgiveness for writing.
Mirroring her last short reply. If she wrote 'lol yeah' and your re-engagement is 'hey', the thread is dead before it starts.
